About R18 000 worth of Khat believed to have been smuggled into Port Elizabeth by bus was confiscated by police this afternoon.
The bust came after alert police officials pulled over a green Toyota Camry driving in Rochelle Road, Greenacres – near to the bus depot.
“Police had received a tip-off that a green Camry was transporting drugs to and from the bus depot. When the officials spotted the car they signaled for it to pull over,” police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said.
“When it pulled over the vehicle was searched and about 12 sealed boxes were found in the boot. The items in the boxes were later found to be the drug Khat,” Janse van Rensburg said.
