PORT ELIZABETH - SANDF AND PRESIDENT ZUMA CELEBRATE ARMED FORCES DAY IN NELSON MANDELA BAY

The annual event coincides w 99th commemoration of SA soldiers who died when SS Mendi sank off the English coast in 1917. The president, also commander-in-chief of SA's Armed Forces, is attending the ceremony in Port Elizabeth today. President Jacob Zuma has honoured 1000 SANDF members with service medals at the annual Armed Forces Day commemoration. President lauds Defence force for work to combat natural disasters like floods and drought as well as protecting SA from potential threats
