PORT ELIZABETH - INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO MURDERS IN BLOEMENDAL, WALMER AND NORTH END

Police are investigating a spate of murders in Port Elizabeth last night, which left four people dead in three separate incidents.

Two people were killed and two others seriously injured in a suspected gang-related shooting in Bloemendal.

One of those killed in the shooting in Ackeer Crescent in the Northern Areas suburb is believed to be a young teenager.

And in Walmer Township, 43 year-old Mthobeli Manona died on the living room of his home in Elija Street after being shot three times at close range after answering a knock on his door at around 10pm

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says in the third incident, residents in Leyland Street in North End reported hearing multiple shots at around midnight on Sunday night.

Officers went to investigate and found the body of man lying face down on the premises of the Khumbulani High School.

He was covered in blood and had been shot at least three times.
