UITENHAGE - 155 SUSPECTS ARRESTED OVER THE PAST WEEKEND

SAPS officials in the Uitenhage Cluster have arrested a total of 155 suspects over the past weekend, during crime prevention operations, that were conducted from Friday, 4 March 2016 until this morning, Monday, 7 March 2016.  Arrests made varied from housebreaking and theft, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, etc.  74 Traffic fines with a total value of R37 000-00 were issued and 10 suspects were detained for driving under the influence of liquor.  26 Fines were issued for other liquor related crimes.

The South African Police Service appeals to the community to work with them to combat crime, by providing valuable information about crime, so that perpetrators can be traced, apprehended and be brought to book.
