GRAHAMSTOWN - RHODES UNIVERSITY CLASSES DISRUPTED OVER MANAGEMENTS ALLEGED FAILURE TO DEAL WITH RAPISTS
Angry students have disrupted classes at Rhodes University in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape.
They are protesting over management's alleged failure to deal decisively with suspected rapists.
This follows the publishing of a list of 11 names of former and current students on Facebook.
They are accused of having raped fellow students and no action was taken against them.
Student Representative Council (SRC) member Naledi Mashishi says: "There has been a list of demands given to management about changes that they need to make so that they deal with sexual assault and management has been given a deadline of four in the afternoon."
"The people are disrupting lectures in order to get more people to mobilise and just to shut down the academic program until the afternoon, when we get the response from management will then cooperate, the SRC fully support all calls to end sexual violence."
