Lionel Claasen, who stabbed Department of Health medic, 36-year old Pietie Links to death, during a dispute over money in January has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
Eastern Cape police say 28-year old Claasen appeared in the Storms River Magistrate Court on Thursday for the murder and pleaded guilty.
Links was stabbed in the neck during the dispute outside a house in Woodlands near Kareedouw in the Langkloof.
Claasen, who fled the scene, was arrested hours after the attack.
At the time of the arrest, the knife used in the attack was also found in Claasens possession.
Links and ambulance driver Ricardo Jantjies had been dispatched to a medical call-out.
Links asked his partner, the ambulance driver, to stop at a house of a person who allegedly owed him some money.
Claasens came out of nowhere and stabbed Links in the neck.
