A group of volunteers in Port Elizabeth are trying to make a difference by getting their hands dirty as part of a clean up campaign in the city.
A private non-profit organisation, called Project Nelson Mandela Bay, aims to spruce up the city through this volunteer programme.

The project has been three years in the making. The metro council is also backing it to create awareness about illegal dumping.
The project also wants to tackle the townships where illegal dumping is rife.
Project manager, Marius Oliver, says, "We need more people to come and clean up the metro. We want people to take up ownership and responsibility for their own community and clean up, we want to raise awareness."
More than 50 people got down to business on Saturday in an attempt to give back to the city. One volunteer says, "It feels great to make a difference and it is nice to see people recognising the people passing by and stopping to say they want to help."
The next step Project Nelson Mandela Bay is aiming for is to get schools involved to boost the number of cleaning hands. It will also act as an educational tool teaching children not to litter.
