The Hawks’ Commercial Crime unit in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape province, are in search of Madeleine Lombaard who failed to appear in court for sentencing.Lombaard, who also goes by the surnames of Bester or Kruger, was convicted after she pleaded guilty to defrauding a woman of R200 000. Lombaard masqueraded as a Financial Advisor and received the money from the victim under false pretense that she was going to invest the cash.
Lombaard was subsequently arrested, she pleaded guilty and was released on bail pending her sentencing at the Port Elizabeth Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on 17 April 2014. The suspect absconded and a warrant for her arrest was issued.
