A second suspect appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrate court yesterday for the murder of alleged gang member, Donovan ‘Staal’ Berry (47). Berry was fatally shot on 3 May 2016 in Barberry Drive Ext 31 in Bethelsdorp.The police intervention team performing duties under Operation Lockdown arrested the 23 year old suspect in Bethelsdorp on Wednesday evening (15/06/2016). The case is remanded to 23 June 2016 and the suspect remains in police custody.
Elgershin Goliath ( 27) was arrested 20 May 2016 for the alleged murder of Donavan Berry. He appeared in court and the case is remanded to 14 July 2016. He remains in police custody.
The intervention team is applauded for the arrest of suspects committing crimes and instilling fear among the people in the Northern areas of Port Elizabeth. The team will continue with its efforts to immobilise these perpetrators and bring them to book.
