SOUTH AFRICA - SAA WARNS CUSTOMERS OF 2 SCAMS USING THE AIRLINES NAME

A competition is doing the rounds on Facebook, that says South African Airways is offering its customers free tickets.

The airline released a statement on Tuesday, saying that the competition is a scam, warning customers to be vigilant and not engage with the post.

Two scams seem to be running, using the airline’s name.

The first is Phishing scam, that asks customers to click on a false URL, and steals the customer’s information.

The other says that customers have been “selected” to participate in a “short survey and get two South African Airways tickets” for free, also taking them to a false site.

“We have taken note of these latest scams circulating on social media and distributed on other channels suggesting customers have been selected to take part in a short survey “and get two South African Airways tickets”.

“We distance ourselves from any communication which is misleading the public and makes false claims while pretending to be an official SAA channel, or those seeking to obtain personal information,” says SAA Spokesperson, Tlali Tlali.

“SAA apologises for any inconvenience or confusion caused. We plead with the public and our customers to refer to our official social media channels, listed below, for reliable information,” said Tlali.
