SOUTH AFRICA - 8 MAY DECLARED A PUBLIC HOLIDAY AS VOTER REGISTRATION CLOSES

If you haven’t registered to vote yet, well today was the last day to do so.

A proclamation has been issued by President Cyril Ramaphosa formalising this year’s National and Provincial elections.

The voter’s roll for the 8th of May elections is now closed following the proclamation.

No further applicants will be added to the voters’ roll.

This includes additional registrations and re-registrations.

The IEC will now discuss the official election timetable with the National Party Liaison Committee.

The proposed timetable spans the next 71 days and lays down the key dates and deadlines for various milestones until voting day.

Registered political parties can also submit their candidate nomination lists.

The 8th of May has also been declared a public holiday.
