PORT ELIZABETH - MEETING CALLED & PETITION SIGNED TO OUST NMB MAYOR BOBANI

Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Mongameli Bobani might be facing a fresh bid to remove him from office. The DA, (ACDP), the PA and six ANC councillors have submitted a petition to the speaker's office urging her to hold a special meeting.

DA Provincial Leader Nqaba Bhanga says councillors  submitted a petition to convene a special meeting and that more than 61 councillors have signed the from different parties in the metro.

The petition also contained several signatures of ANC heavy weights in the metro Including Andile Lungisa. ANC RTT co-ordinator Luyolo Nqakula has confirmed that ANC councillors have signed the petition to remove Mayor Mongameli Bobani.

The AIC and EFF councillors in the Nelson Mandela Bay have not supported the petition to oust Mayor Mongameli Bobani. A special council meeting is expected to take place in the week.

Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay Mongameli Bobani says he is not shaken nor moved by the petition. He says the ANC councillors were tricked into signing the petition to remove him from office.
