Delivering her keynote address at the handover today, Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Asset Management-Major General Thembeka Dyantyi said, "Whenever we hand out vehicles we consider a lot of things and want to ensure they are taken to where they are needed most."

She appealed to members to use these resources for official use only. She also used this moment to request members of the public to report abuse of these vehicles.

"Whenever you suspect that police are not using our vehicles for official duty and crime fighting activities, but personal and private use report to us. Take a picture of the vehicle and its registration numbers so that we can investigate and take appropriate disciplinary action,” she added.

Representing the CPF and community, Mr Glen Gqwetha said, “On behalf of the community, we express our gratitude. This additional handover of vehicles will go a long way in the province's efforts to fight crime, especially in our rural clusters. Some of the vehicles are monopolized by individuals and this kills spirit of those who work on the ground.”

He also pleaded to the members not to take too long to repair or reporting broken down vehicles. He further appealed to those utilizing state vehicles to treat them as their own and not abuse them or neglect them when broken down.
