PORT ELIZABETH - GANG MEMBER, 21, ARRESTED WITH STOLEN FIREARM AFTER WEST END SHOOTING


Members of PE K9 Unit arrested a 21-year-old alleged gang affiliate and confiscated a stolen firearm after they responded to a complaint of shooting in West End.

It is alleged that at about 20:00, the members stopped in West End when they noticed a person running in behind Varsvlei swimming pool. After several warnings to stop, police dog ‘Bentley’ was released and he apprehended the suspect. A 9mm Lugar was recovered. The firearm was reported stolen in Kuruman in the Northern Cape in June 2019.

The 21-year-old was detained on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. He will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday, 25 November 2019
