EASTERN CAPE - 2 MEN TO APPEAR IN COURT FOR KIDNAP, RAPE AND ROBBERY OF TWO 16 YEAR OLD VICTIMS

Two men who allegedly kidnapped and raped two teenagers at gunpoint are expected to appear in the East London Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni says the suspects, both in their twenties, kidnapped the two 16-year-old victims from Buffalo Flats on Friday, before driving them to s secluded spot where they were raped and robbed of their belongings.

He says the teenagers sustained severe injuries and were dumped near Cambridge where police found them and took them to a hospital.

Tonjeni says an investigation immediately commenced and police successfully traced the vehicle used in the commission of the crime.

He says upon further investigation it was revealed that one of the suspects used his father's car and gun without permission and drove to East London where the crimes were committed.

Police arrested the one man in East London whilst his alleged accomplice was arrested in Adelaide.

Both will be charged with rape, armed robbery and kidnapping.

Tonjeni says the victims have already positively identified the suspects and got their stolen belongings back.
