PORT ELIZABETH - CONSTABLE MAKES 250 FACE MASKS DISTRIBUTED TO THE ELDERLY AND CHILDREN IN PE'S NORTHERN AREAS
As the country grapples with containing the corona virus pandemic, the challenge of confining children to their homes in certain areas is a daunting task for police and law enforcement officers.
During this difficult but absolutely necessary lockdown, police officers in Gelvandale continue to reach out to their communities.
While enforcing the regulations and ensuring that the streets are empty of people, members while on foot patrol handed out 300 sweet packets which included an Easter egg to children in the area.
In so doing, children and their parents were urged to stay at home and not walk or play in the streets. The importance for such was explained to the children.
Such gesture by the police officers was welcomed by the children and their parents.
Also showing their concern about wearing protective equipment during the lockdown period, a member from the Anti-Gang Unit in Port Elizabeth, in her free time made 250 masks which were distributed to people today, 16 April 2020, in the Northern areas.
Constable Renee Adams while on duty noticed that the majority of citizens were not adequately taking the necessary precautions in safeguarding themselves against contracting the virus.
The masks were distributed to the elderly and children by Anti-Gang Unit members in Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp areas.
While enforcing the regulations, members are also susceptible to contracting the corona virus and are therefore encouraged to always adhere to the precautionary measures while they continue to serve and protect.
Our positive actions today, will determine tomorrow.
