Police in Port Elizabeth have issued a warning to garages and petrol attendants in the city to be on the lookout for a petrol thief.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the unknown man filled his car up twice last month at different petrol stations in the metro and drove off without paying.
She says he is driving a gold-coloured VW Jetta with fake number plates.
The driver allegedly first filled up his car for R50.33 on the 1st of March 2020 at the Engen Garage in Govan Mbeki Avenue.
Colonel Naidu says a few days later on the 5th he filled up again at the Caltex garage in Rink Street, Central.
This time the amount was R250.00
The suspect used a different number plate for each theft.
