PORT ELIZABETH - NELSON MANDELA BAY WELLNESS CENTRE IN WALMER TO RE-OPEN AFTER CLOSURE DUE TO STAFF MEMBER TESTING POSITIVE FOR COVID-19
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to inform its employees and residents that the NMBM Wellness Centre in Walmer will re-open for full operation from Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
This follows the closure of the Centre as a precautionary measure, following news that a staff member at the Centre has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Municipality would like to clarify that the employee who tested positive at the Wellness Centre was last at work on May 27, 2020.
This means that whoever interacted with the employee before that date, would have shown symptoms by now if infected.
Over the weekend, the Municipality decontaminated the Wellness Centre, as it usually does on a weekly basis, to guarantee the safety of employees and staff.
The current staff members at the Centre are also checked on a daily basis, on arrival at work, for any possible symptoms of COVID-19.
The services offered by the Wellness Centre, which include COVID-19 screening, will resume as from Tuesday, 9 June 2020.
A dedicated Section with dedicated access has been created for COVID-19 screening.
Strict COVID-19 regulations must be followed without fail by both staff and employees.
Employees who have appointments with the Wellness Centre for this week must please call the Centre to reschedule their appointments.
Due to the volume of employees who use the services of the Centre, those employees who can see their private doctors are encouraged to do so and bring/submit their workplace fitness certificates.
Issued by Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Communications Office.
