EASTERN CAPE - COMMUNITY IN SHOCK AFTER 6 YEAR OLD GIRL RAPED AND MURDERED BY UNKNOWN MEN

The South African Police Management in the Eastern Cape is appealing to the community to assist with any information that can assist investigations into the recent incident involving a six (6) year old child who was raped and murdered by unknown suspects in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape.

Reports suggest that the innocent and unsuspecting child had gone to a local shop to buy some sweet when she was confronted by heartless and wild criminals who did not only rape her but belligerently took her life without any cause.

The child was later found deceased along the road in one of the units in Mdantsane. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has ordered a 72 hour activation of all resources in order to bring a speedy finalisation of the investigation and the arrest of those implicated.

The SAPS management has also ordered senior officers including the Station Commander to visit the family of the young girl.

The family and in particular the mother of the deceased child is in constant communication with the investigating officers who provide her with regular updates on the progress made in the process of investigations.

Meanwhile, the SAPS rejects with contempt the circulating social media reports which have been making outrageous and baseless accusations against the Station Commander of Vulindlela as uncaring and irresponsible.

Such scurrilous reports have also been dismissed by the mother of the child who described those who propagated these allegations as nothing but a well calculated lies aimed at sowing a seed of discontent and confusion between the police and the bereaved family.

Lieutenant General Ntshinga has warned against those who recklessly and irresponsibly use social media network platforms to achieve their own selfish ambitions.

Such speculations and misinformation carries a potential to not only mislead our investigators, but to demoralise and make families lose confidence on the ability of the police to crack the case.

She appealed to the community to give the detectives a chance to work on the investigation. “This is a very sensitive matter which must not be used to invoke emotions and public ire. The family deserves respect on their matter so that eventually they can find peace and closure about their child.” General Ntshinga pleaded. Plans are afoot to pay a home visit to the bereaved family by the SAPS internal structures of Men for Change - the Women’s Network early in November 2020.
