NELSON MANDELA BAY - COVID-19 CASES ON THE RISE AGAIN WITH UITENHAGE, KWAZAKHELE & MOTHERWELL AS HOTSPOTS

The number of active Covid-19 cases in Nelson Mandela Bay has increased, reaching at least 349 cases.

Acting Mayor Thsonono Buyeye says this is particularly concerning as this indicates residents are dropping the ball while the fight is far from over.

He says a few weeks ago the number of active cases was around 220.

Buyeye says social gatherings have been the biggest contributor to this jump.

Motherwell, Uitenhage and Kwazakhele remain hotspots.

As of 19 October, the national death toll was 18 431.
