NELSON MANDELA BAY - CITY CLARIFIES TO AVOID THE CURRENT WIDESPREAD CONFUSION... CURFEW BEGINS AT 10PM

Reports from our law enforcement deployees indicate that there is still widespread confusion regarding the correct start time of the curfew as per the Disaster Management Act.

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security, John Best, said the need therefore exists to clarify that the curfew for hotspot areas such as Nelson Mandela Bay and the Garden Route is 10pm.

"It is an hour later for other regions. We were informed that numerous members of the public told law enforcement officers that they thought the curfew only starts at 11pm, which is obviously not the case.

"I would like to appeal to members of the public to strictly adhere to the regulations as the Minister of Health once again reported a major spike in new coronavirus infections.

"We are doing our level best as the law enforcement community to continuously provide an efficient support service for the public health initiatives and also would like to remind residents to stick to critical COVID-19 health protocols,” MMC Best said.
