GQEBERHA - DRIVER KILLED AND 14 OTHERS RUSHED TO HOSPITAL AFTER TAXI COLLIDES WITH BUS IN HEAD ON COLLISION
A taxi driver died in a head on collision yesterday afternoon, 13 July 2021 after allegedly colliding into a bus on the R335 on the Addo Road in Gqeberha.
It is alleged that at about 14:40, the bus and the Toyota Quantum minibus were travelling in opposite directions on the Addo road just before the Monument crossing when the accident occurred.
At this stage, it is not clear how the accident happened.
The fourteen passengers in the taxi (all adults) were taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver, Zolani Pita (age unknown) from Kwanobuhle succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The taxi was transporting workers home from an industrial park to Uitenhage when the accident occurred.
The bus driver and his two passengers were unhurt.
Swartkops police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
