EASTERN CAPE - ALTERCATION TURNS DEADLY AFTER KIRKWOOD MAN IS STABBED TO DEATH

 A 23-year-old man was arrested for murder after he allegedly stabbed Willem Olifant (42) to death in what is believed was a confrontation at a house in Aquapark, Kirkwood on Monday, 25 October 2021.

It is said that at about 06:00 in the morning, police was summoned to a house in Eureka Street, Aquapark (Kirkwood) after an alleged confrontation at a house resulted in the death of a 42-year-old man.  The lifeless body of Willem Olifant (42) was found lying on the floor with a stab wound in the upper body. 

Police arrested the suspect and also seized two knives for further investigation.  The circumstances relating to the incident will form part of the murder investigation. The 23-year-old suspect is due to appear in Kirkwood Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 27 October 2021 on charges of murder.

In an unrelated incident, on the same day at about 03:30, a 68-year-old farm manager was attacked at a vegetable project farm near Bersheba, Kirkwood.

The incident was reported to police and upon arrival police discovered a man with open wounds in his upper body. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital to receive medical attention where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage.

Police opened a case of murder for further investigation.
