KARIEGA - HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR WATER? MUNICIPALITY EXPLAINS WHY

In a statement released of Friday afternoon; the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality explained why the citizens of Kariega were experiencing water issues:

"The City wishes to inform residents that due to the disruption at Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works, the pressure to the offtake point to Kariega is low, resulting in intermittent supply.

Once the repairs are complete, we anticipate that restoring the water will take the majority of the weekend.

We implore all residents to please reduce their consumption so that water does not run out in higher-lying areas."

Earlier today the Municipality explained  how a pump failure at its Nooitgedacht Treatment works had caused reduced output of water across the metro saying the following:

A pump failure has occured at Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works and this has resulted in reduced output at the plant.

Teams are on-site and opened the pump up to troubleshoot however, other machinery is required to resolve the fault.

This has affected the supply to Chelsea reservoir.

We urge all residents to please reduce consumption so higher lying areas do not go without water supply.
