1. AREAS DEPENDENT ON GQEBERHA WESTERN SOURCES
There has been a failure at the Skoenmakerskop pumpstation which supplies water to various areas of the Gqeberha.
Teams are currently replacing the pump with a refurbished pump. The repair is expected be completed by tomorrow afternoon.
With the reduced pumping capacity, only 75% water supply can be provided to the zone.
The areas listed below could experience low pressure or disruptions should reservoir storage be depleted:
• Parts of Walmer
• Walmer Heights
• Greenshields Park
• Parts of Fairview
• Walmer Downs
• Mangold Park
• Glen Hurd
• Newton Park
• Greenacres
• Parts of Cotsworld
• Parts of Schauderville
• Linkside
• Mill Park
• Parts of Central
• Mount Croix
• Perridgevale
• Deal party
• New Brighton
• North End
• Sydenham
2. UPDATE ON KARIEGA (UITENHAGE) WATER SUPPLY
The situation in Kariega has improved and water has been restored to most areas affected by last week’s outage.
3. NOOITGEDAGT WATER SUPPLY AFFECTING DESPATCH / BLOEMANDAL AREAS / WESTERN AREAS OF GQEBERHA
The higher lying parts of Despatch may currently be experiencing water disruptions due to a pump failure at the Nooitgedagt Treatment Works. Teams are on-site working on the repair.
The areas affected include:
• Reservoir Hills
• Khayamnandi
• Daleview
• Heuwelkruin
• Campher Park.
This pump failure has also affected the volume of water being pumped to the Western areas. With the bulk supply reservoir only at 32%, hot weather and with the afternoon / early evening peak still to come, we urge residents in the above-mentioned areas to use water only for essential purposes until this work is complete in order to avoid water disruptions.
4. WATER QUALITY
There have been complaints about the discoloured water in certain isolated reservoir zones. This is a result of reservoirs operating at low levels and operational changes necessary to manage water pressure to evenly distribute water between different storage sites.
We expect that the supply of water will improve as reservoir levels increase and the system stabilizes.
We encourage all residents in the Metro to live by the 50 litre limit and report ant other disruptions or water leaks to the Service Delivery call centre at 0800 20 5050.
