At the same premises, the building inspector found that the owner transgressed in the building and a 21 day notice was issued. Alcohol worth R 3059 was confiscated immediately. 

At Melisizwe tavern, a fine of R36 000 was issued for repeatedly tampering with electricity.

Sakhumzi Supermarket at Koyana Street was forced to close on the basis that, no air-conditioners were operational, which was hazardous to customers.


The Military Police, Bethelsdorp CPU, Environmental Health, electricity officials, a building inspector, an ELCB inspector, Kwazakele CPU and immigration officers were also in attendance.

Metro Police Colonel Mlindi Mangwane said disruptive operations are in response to the safety of the residents when they are in public places like shops and taverns.

He further cautioned the owners of taverns and shops to make sure that safe and quality customer care is important.
