GQEBERHA | AUTHORITIES DISCOVER CACHE OF GUNS AND AMMO AS WELL AS DRUGS WORTH R400 000 IN SCHAUDERVILLE HOME

Police arrested one suspect aged (43) for dealing in dagga, possession of prohibited fire-arms and unlawful possession of live ammunition on Monday afternoon, 03 April 2023 at Schauderville.


The arrest and confiscations followed the execution of a search warrant at a house in Jameson Road after information was received about drug activities in the identified premises. 

Upon searching the property, AGU members found a large quantity of drugs and money. 

During the search, four (4) firearms and live ammunition were also found, with the other four (4) found inside the shack built tuckshop in front of the premises. 

This brought the number of firearms confiscated by SAPS members to eight (8) in total.

The quantities of confiscations included the following 

5614 x full Mandrax tablets, 
57 small packets Tik, 
8 large packets tik, 
73 packets Cocaine, 
43 Mylan alprazolam tablets,
 undisclosed amount of cash, 
68 x 9mm live rounds, 
17 x .22 live rounds, 
30 x .38 special live rounds, 
3 x fire-arm magazines, 
2 x .22 firearms with serial number filed off, 
1 x 9mm firearm with a serial number and 
1 x .22 Revolver with serial number.

During the search, residents in the vicinity became hostile, started throwing stones, burning tyres and rolled burning tyre at police. POP, NIU and TRT managed the situation, Public Order Police also arrested an 18-year-old male suspect on charges of malicious damage to property. 

The confiscated Drugs are estimated at R400 000-00

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene has appreciated the work of all operational members involved in the search on Monday, and as such has vowed to clean the Nelson Mandela Metro of drug peddlers and the proliferation of prohibited and deadly fire-arms circulating within the communities.

The arrested suspects are expected in New Law Court on Tuesday the 4th April 2023 once they are charged.
