Two firearms were recovered in separate incidents while members conducted high visibility patrols in the Gqeberha's northern areas.
The first recovery was effected when at about 00:02 this morning, the team were patrolling in one of the hotspot streets in Arcadia when they noticed two males walking in Aandblom Street.
Upon noticing police presence, the two men suddenly ran into a yard and disappeared.
The members chased after them and recovered a revolver and five rounds of ammunition in the back yard of one of the houses.
The serial number was tampered with and an enquiry docket was opened for investigation.
Also, at about 02:50, this morning, while continuing with persistent patrols in the area, AGU and SAPS Bethelsdorp members once again noticed three males walking in Egypt Street in Timothy Valley.
The males split up and ran off in different directions. As one male ran, he disposed of a firearm (serial number fled off) with 8 rounds of ammunition.
An enquiry docket was opened for investigation.
The firearms will be subjected to ballistic analysis to establish any linkages to other crimes committed in the country.
