All is not lost however as the Citizen reported

Digital asset exchange Forus Digital recently announced it would be investing R500 million, raised through the issue of tokens, to upgrade the Fish River Resort and Gary Player golf course in the Eastern Cape.

Wharever the reason for the ruin of the luxurious resort, at least for now the Fish River Sun has the promise of a better future
