GQEBERHA | WIFE DIES, HUSBAND AND SON AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL AFTER FATAL COLLISION WITH RUNAWAY TRUCK
Police in Peddie are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a woman died in an accident and her husband and son were airlifted to a hospital in Gqeberha yesterday 20 May 2023.
It is alleged that at about 10:30, the driver of a silver Audi Q3 vehicle was driving towards Port Elizabeth on the N2 near Peddie when a truck travelling in the opposite direction allegedly lost control while driving down the Keiskamma River cutting, hitting the Audi Q3.
The woman who was the front seated passenger died on impact while the driver and boy were rushed to a nearby hospital and then airlifted to Gqeberha.
The truck driver and his passenger did not sustain any injuries.
The truck, a horse and trailer was carrying cement. Name of the deceased is withheld until a formal identification is done.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
