In another suspected gang-related incident, a 19 year old youth is expected to appear in a Port Elizabeth court soon on 2 charges of attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearmColonel Naidu says its alleged that at about quarter past six on Thursday evening, the 25 year-old complainant was walking down a road in Bethelsdorp when the suspect approached him and opened fire.
Police heard the gunshots and immediately responded. The suspect also fired at police.
A chase ensued on foot and the suspect was apprehended when he ran into a house and tried to hide in a bed.
A Norinco 9mm firearm was confiscated by police and the teenager was arrested.
No-one was injured during the incident.
