EASTERN CAPE - SAPS BRIGADIER APPEARS IN COURT ON CHARGES OF FRAUD, CORRUPTION AND FORGERY

An Eastern Cape top cop appeared in the Zwelitsha Magistrate’s court near King Williams Town on Friday on charges of fraud, corruption, and forgery.

Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Marinda Mills, head of the Eastern Cape Communications Division, was arrested in December last year and was released on a warning.

The charges against Mills relate to her allegedly signing off on a fraudulent travel claim submitted by a senior official in her office.

NPA regional spokesman Tsepo Ndwalaza said the matter was postponed so a trial date could be arranged.

Ndwalaza said Mills would appear alongside two other co-accused at her next court date.

The two other co-accused have been identified as Lieutenant-Colonel Nicole Brown and Keith Essay.

The case was postponed until March 15.
