QUEENSTOWN - POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT TO FIND 3 DANGEROUS ESCAPED PRISONERS

Two of five prisoners who escaped from Queenstown police cells were re-arrested on Sunday 14 February 2016.

The prisoners escaped on Saturday 13 February 2016 at about 17;30 while the police officers were busy reporting on and off duty.  Athenkosi Nqabisa (26) and Godfrey Beets (22) were re-arrested. Kholekile Gqomfa (40), Malusi Nobopha (22) and Mark Mantirimani (28) are still at large and were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms.

Additional charges of escaping from lawful custody have been added to the existing charges of the prisoners and are under investigation.
