PORT ELIZABETH - NEWLY LAUNCHED NELSON MANDELA BAY METRO POLICE SEES THEIR CHIEF'S CONTRACT TERMINATED
Nelson Mandela Bay Metro police chief has been fired in yet another snag in the roll out of the specialist crime fighting unit.
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Acting City Manager Johann Mettle confirmed Mathabathe contract had been terminated but remained tight-lipped today about the reasons.
This move marks the second police chief to be fired in the Metro since the council adopted a resolution in 2009 to establish the police force.
This comes only weeks after Mayor Danny Jordaan “launched” the metro police without Mathabathe present.
On questioning why Mathabathe was not present it was said that she was on special leave.
