SHAUDERVILLE - POLICE SHUT DOWN DRUG POST AND ARREST ALLEGED DRUG LORD

Members of the intervention team performing duties under Operation Lockdown successfully executed a search warrant at a well-known drug post yesterday afternoon in Shauderville. A 31 year old man, an alleged "drug lord", was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs. Quantities of the drug known as Tik, a licenced 9mm firearm, ammunition and a substantial amount of cash were seized by the police team.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

The distribution and sale of drugs are major contributory factors to gang violence, which inevitably affects and compromise the security and safety of innocent community members. The SAPS is committed to closing all avenues for drug dealers and syndicates.

"The SAPS continues on our mission to rid the Northern Areas of PE of gang-related violence and criminal activities.  Our message is clear and unambiguous -  we will deal decisively with those breaking the law, and we will be intensifying our resolve in dealing with the scourge of drugs, illegal firearms and violence. We call on communities to continue providing tip offs to the police in order to make their neighbourhoods  safer," said the Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie
