On Sunday 03 July at about 06:55am, Port Elizabeth Flying Squad members responded to a complaint of shooting in progress in Bethelsdorp area. On arrival they approached three suspects who were carrying firearms.
Police requested the suspects to stop but they refused. One suspect turned around and shot towards the Police. The police went for cover, retaliated and called for back up. Suspects managed to escape.
The police searched the vicinity and recovered 2 firearms with 8 live rounds. A case of attempted murder, attack on police and pointing of firearms was opened for investigation.
