PORT ELIZABETH - DRUG BUST NETS R100 000 WORTH OF DRUGS IN LORRAINE TOWNHOUSE COMPLEX

A suspect in a wheelchair was arrested for alleged drug dealing at the Evergreen Manor townhouse complex in Verdun Road, Lorraine, yesterday morning.

The bust, which saw police confiscating about R100 000 worth of “highend” drugs, came after they received a tip-off last month that drugs were being sold from the 43-year-old’s man townhouse.

Police yesterday declined to name the suspect, who will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Due to the volume of drugs found in the house the man will be charged with both possession of drugs and distribution.

The joint operation involved members of the Kabega Park and Mount Road crime prevention units, who raided the house at about 10.30am after following up on the tip-off.

It is believed that most of the alleged drug dealer’s clients visited his home to make their purchases.

The man sat in his wheelchair, looking shocked, as police searched the house. None of his neighbours appeared to be home at the time of the raid.
