Illegal oil dumping could be the cause of an oil slick off the coast of Port Elizabeth.
The maritime safety authority responded to an incident last week, and soon afterwards there were reports of another oil spill.
The South African Maritime Safety Authority (Samsa), launched an investigation after receiving reports of oil covered marine birds.
Upon inspection, Samsa’s, Nigel Campbell, says officials found there were two separate spills off Port Elizabeth’s coast.
Samples have now been sent for testing and the results are expected by tomorrow afternoon.
