South African National Parks is monitoring the area in Middle Keurbooms Private Conservancy, Plettenberg Bay that fell victim to a fire that went out of control last weekend.
Rainy weather has helped keep the fire at bay, extinguishing most of the flames.
SANParks’ Nandi Mgwadlamba says, “They’re monitoring the area very closely and they’ll also be sending out the mopping team to mop up and there will an urgent meeting I think that’s been planned by all the partners next week to assess just how much damage was caused to property and livestock, if any.”
The fire started as a control fire, but in the end, nine people were forced to evacuate their homes on the private farm.
The fire has been contained.
Certain areas remain under surveillance.
