PORT ELIZABETH - OPERATION LOCKDOWN SEES 105 CRIMINALS ARRESTED THIS WEEK BY MOUNT ROAD CLUSTER

Mount Road Cluster, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape:

Over the past week, 5-11 September 2016, 105 people have been arrested on various charges and a variety of exhibits have been seized under Operation Lockdown

The following arrests were made:

- 4 people arrested for Murder
- 1 arrested for attempted murder
- 5 arrested for attempted hijacking
- 6 arrested for possession of stolen property
- 1 arrested for assault
- 3 arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms
- 80 arrested for drug related charges

The following items were seized:

- 5 firearms
- 30 rounds of ammunition
- 4 stolen vehicles
- various drugs including Tik / Crystal Meth, dagga and stilpane tablets


Operation Lockdown has been cleaning up the streets of PE's Northern areas since March 2016, focusing on gang-related crime and violence, especially in Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp. The continuing proactive operations under #OpLockdownPE are achieving results.
