Grahamstown police have arrested at least five students for allegedly trying to disrupt classes.
Media inquiries regarding the arrests were referred to national police.However, video images posted on Oppidan Press show several students being bundled into police vehicles for reportedly disrupting academic activities in the Life Sciences Building.
Meanwhile, in a statement Rhodes management said that academic activities would continue on Monday despite negotiations with protesting students breaking down this weekend.
Rhodes said that the party had agreed on 13 issues on the table but management did not agree to an additional demand by the students to suspend classes this week.Rhodes said the students also did not give the assurance that they would not disrupt the academic programme.
