PORT ELIZABETH - 31 NMMU PROTEST STUDENTS RELEASED ON R100 BAIL EACH

The 31 students arrested at #NMMU on Wednesday were released on R100 bail each in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Friday.

A large crowd has gathered outside the court awaiting the students' release.

The students face charges including public violence and malicious damage to property

The defence had asked that the students be released on warning, but Magistrate Tandeka Mashiyi said they faced serious charges.
