PORT ELIZABETH - MAN FOUND GUILTY AFTER SHOOTING VICTIM TWICE IN GOVAN MBEKI AVENUE

On Friday 21 October accused Dillon Willams (22) was sentenced in the Port Elizabeth Regional Court on charges of attempted murder, possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.
On 12 October 2015,

Williams walked up to the complainant in Govan Mbeki avenue and shot him twice. He accused the complainant of shooting at another gang member’s house. The accused was later arrested and charged.

Williams was sentenced as follows:
10 years for attempted murder of which 3 years is suspended for 5 years ;
possession of illegal firearm – 6 years and
possession of ammunition – 2 years imprisonment .

The possession of ammunition case will run concurrently with the possession of illegal firearm of which half of the possession of firearm case will run concurrently with the attempted murder.
In effect, Williams will serve 10 years imprisonment.
