Two Bethelsdorp men was found guilty in the Port Elizabeth High court today (31/10) on charges of murder and aggravated robbery.
Charlton Jackson (27) and Fabian Bowers (36) will know their fate on 2 November 2016 when they will be sentenced.
On 3 April 2015 at about 01:10, ADT security official, Christopher Adams attended to an alarm that went off at a house in Booysens Park Drive in Bethelsdorp. The two accused approached Adams from behind while he was seated in the vehicle. He was fatally shot twice in his neck. The motive for the attack was to rob Adams of his firearm however the accused could not find his firearm and stole his magazine with 15 rounds. The firearm was found by police between the plate and vest of his bullet proof vest. Two cell phones, a small electronic device and a black bag belong to Adams was taken.
Successful tracing on one of the cellphones by the investigating officer, Detective Constable Elton Uithaler led police to a friend of both accused. Both Jackson and Bowers were arrested on 22 April 2015 at their respective houses in Vastrap in Booysens Park. Police also retrieved the camera footage which proved vital in the investigation. The camera was attached in the vehicle. The accused were also identified by tattoos that was seen on the footage.
They remained in custody until the finalisation of the case.
