Members from Uitenhage Cluster have conducted crime prevention operations over the past weekend and it resulted in a total of 243 suspects being arrested for various crimes. These arrests includes murder, attempted rape, robbery, rape, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and the possession of suspected stolen goods. Ten (10) persons were arrested for driving under the influence of liquor. A total of 29 traffic fines were issued, valued at more than R14 500. The suspects were also arrested on charges relating to protection orders, malicious damage to property, shoplifting and 22 suspects were detained for the illegal possession of drugs.
Police in the Uitenhage Cluster will continue to combat crime effectively in the Uitenhage Cluster. The South African Police Service appeal to the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime by providing valuable information that will lead to the arrest of suspects, the tracing of illegal firearms and the recovery of stolen property.
