EASTERN CAPE - ST FRANCIS BAY NSRI REPORT 3 SEPARATE INCIDENTS

Neil Jones, NSRI St Francis Bay duty coxswain, said:

At 20h26, Friday, 24th February, NSRI St Francis Bay duty crew were activated following a request for medical assistance from the Chokka fishing boat Miaaka reporting a 38 year old fisherman onboard suffering a medical complaint.

We rendezvoused with the fishing boat outside of the harbour and secured the patient, suffering suspected dehydration, into a Stokes basket stretcher and he was brought ashore aboard our sea rescue craft Spirit of St Francis II where he was taken into the care of Private Care ambulance services paramedics and transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Then at 15h23, Sunday, 26th February, our NSRI St Francis Bay duty crew responded aboard our sea rescue craft Spirit of St Francis II to rendezvous with the Chokka fishing boat Silver Arrow to assist a 41 year old crewman onboard suffering suspected dehydration.

The patient was transferred onto our sea rescue craft and brought ashore where he was taken into the care of Private Care ambulance services paramedics and transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Then at 08h18, Monday, 27th February, our NSRI St Francis Bay duty crew responded aboard Spirit of St Francis II to rendezvous with the Chokka fishing boat Le Masch, 20 nautical miles from our sea rescue base, off-shore of Mosterts Hoek, to assist a 28 year old Port Elizabeth crewman suffering suspected dehydration.

The patient was brought to our sea rescue station aboard our sea rescue craft in a stable condition secured into a Stokes basket stretcher and he was taken into the care of EC Government Health EMS paramedics when his condition deteriorated and he was stabilised on the scene and transported to hospital by EMS ambulance in a stable condition.
