EASTERN CAPE - PREMIER PUMULLO MASUALLE SPENDS ALMOST R2 BILLION ON BUFFALO CITY HOSPITAL REVAMP

Eastern Cape Premier Pumullo Masualle is adamant that the close to R2 billion budget spent in building a new facility at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital will translate to improved health care services for the citizens of the Buffalo City Metro.

Masualle was speaking at the handing over of the R1,9 billion facility in Mdantsane.

The hospital will be digitally connected to Victoria Hospital in Alice, Butterworth Hospital and the Dutywa Community Health Care Centre, using imaging technology to make diagnoses, process referral cases and prescriptions quicker.

It also has a TB unit, nursing college, ICU, accident and trauma unit, orthopedic surgery and maternity wards.

“We have prioritized the improvement of  our facilities as we ready ourselves for the implementation of the NHI program. We are appreciative of the milestone itself. It will be quite different  for the people. The experience they will have of Cecilia Makiwane Hospital, I think once everything is  fully operational, it's going to be a world of difference even for the staff. They will be working in conditions very conducive. It  should bode well for our people,” said Masualle.
