The Eastern Cape is facing a tough winter if it doesn't rain soon.
The drought hit province has 9 percent less water in storage compared to the same time last year with its dams sitting at an average of 63 percent capacity. Large parts of the province is also a summer rainfall region and summer is nearing its end.
These concerns were tabled by the department of water affairs as it gave an overview of the water situation in the province
