PORT ELIZABETH - 2 MEN ARRESTED AT SANDLEWOOD COMPLEX IN LORRAINE FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

Two men were arrested at a house in Lorraine, Port Elizabeth, on Tuesday evening for alleged drug trafficking and falsification of documents.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the police received a tip off three weeks ago about suspicious activities at a house in Sandlewood complex.

She said the police found R75 000 in cash, 36 units of cocaine, 500 grams of chlorine powder, two dagga capsules, 10 cellphones and packaging plastic bags and a VW Golf were confiscated.

Naidu said the drugs were approximately estimated at R65 000.

The 27 and 35 year old are expected to appear in court on Thursday.

The Cluster Commander for Mount Road Cluster, Major General Funeka Siganga, lauds the members from the Operational Command Centre for the arrests and is urging the communities to report drug dealing as 'crime intelligence is vital if we need to catch the drug lords. Striving towards a drug free society is something we need to work on together', she said.

'Port Elizabeth is not a drug haven and we will continue in our efforts in the battle against drug trafficking and substance abuse," she concluded.
