PORT ELIZABETH - HIGH SPEED CHASE LEADS TO THE ARREST OF HOUSE ROBBERS & MURDER SUSPECTS

On Friday 10 March 2017 at about 23:45, a murder took place at Mpando Street, NU10. Two suspects kicked the door open and fired a shot at Mr Mzulisi Frans (36). He fled from the house and tried to get help from neighbours when one of the suspects fired more shots at him, one hitting him fatally in the head. He passed away on the scene.

Two hours later, a house robbery was committed at Galela Street, NU13. Three suspects kicked open the house door, pointed a gun at the occupants and robbed numerous goods such as a plasma TV, laptop, cell phones and cash. They also took two vehicles, a white VW Polo and a black Toyota Yaris, and fled the scene.

The Yaris vehicle was spotted and chased by members of the SAPS Flying Squad on the M17 between Motherwell and Kwazakele. The driver of the Yaris lost control and crashed into a fence of a house at the corner of Mbilini Street and Maqhubela Road.

The 40-year-old suspect was arrested and also linked to the murder earlier on.

After further investigation by the Hijacking Task Team and Crime Intelligence members, a residence in the Hlalani informal settlement in Motherwell was identified at about 09:00.

The white VW Polo and most of the robbed goods were recovered at this shack. A 9mm pistol and more suspected stolen goods were also confiscated. The owner of the residence, a 38-year-old male was also arrested.

Police are doing further investigation and more arrests could follow soon.
